Overview

If you’ve ever wondered exactly how many doors you walk through in a full DOORS run, you’re not alone. The game is literally named after them — so it’s only natural to want to count them all.

Here’s the full breakdown of door counts across every floor and hidden area in DOORS, as of the most recent update.

Note: Exact door counts can vary slightly between runs due to procedural generation. The numbers below are the standard / maximum counts for each floor. Hidden areas and optional content add extra doors on top of the main path.

The Short Answer

The Hotel (Floor 1): 100 doors The Mines (Floor 2): 100 doors (full path) The Archives (Floor 3): TBD (newly released — count being confirmed by the community) The Rooms (hidden): 100 doors The Backdoor (hidden): ~10 doors The Stairwell (hidden): variable

That puts the total main-game door count at roughly 200+ doors for a normal run, and 300+ if you include The Rooms hidden sub-floor. With The Archives now released, the total is even higher.

Floor-by-Floor Breakdown

The Hotel — 100 Doors (Confirmed)

SectionDoors
Lobby to first Seek~30
First Seek to Door 50~20
Door 50 (Library — 1 door)1
Door 51 to second Seek~30
Second Seek to Door 100~19
Door 100 (Electrical — 1 door)1
Total100

The Hotel is the only floor with a confirmed, fixed door count of exactly 100. Every run goes from Door 1 to Door 100 — the room layouts change, but the door numbers always go up to 100.

Read our full The Hotel walkthrough for more detail.

The Mines — 100 Doors (Full Path)

SectionApprox. Doors
Entrance to first cart ride~25
Cart ride sections~20
Caverns~30
Deep shaft to exit~25
Total~100

The Mines doesn’t use the same door-numbering system as The Hotel, but the full run contains roughly the same number of door transitions — about 100. The exact count varies more than The Hotel because of the open cavern areas and mine cart sections that don’t use traditional doors.

Read our The Mines guide for everything about Floor 2.

The Archives — Estimated 50–100+ Doors (New)

SectionApprox. Doors
Lobby and entrance~10
The Stacks (main section)~40+
Reading Room and Record Room~10
The Vault~5–10
Basement Archives~20+
Hidden areas (REDACTED, etc.)~5–10
Total estimate~80–100+

The Archives is brand new (released August 31, 2026), so the exact door count is still being confirmed by the community. Early reports suggest it’s comparable in size to the other two floors. We’ll update this number as more data comes in.

Hidden & Secret Areas

The Rooms — 100 Doors

The Rooms is a hidden sub-floor accessible through a secret door in The Hotel. It’s an optional challenge area with its own set of entities and its own door counter (A-001 through A-100).

  • Doors: 100
  • Access: Secret door in The Hotel
  • Difficulty: Much harder than the main game
  • Entities: Unique set of entities (A-60, A-90, A-120, etc.)

The Backdoor — ~10 Doors

The Backdoor is a smaller hidden area with a handful of secret rooms. It’s shorter than The Rooms but contains rare items and lore.

  • Doors: ~10
  • Access: Hidden entrance
  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Reward: Rare items, badges

The Stairwell — Variable

The Stairwell is a vertical challenge area where you climb stairs instead of walking through horizontal doors. The “door” count is harder to pin down here.

  • Doors / levels: Variable
  • Access: Special conditions
  • Difficulty: High
  • Note: Not traditional doors — more like levels of a stairwell

Why Do the Counts Vary?

DOORS uses procedural generation, which means:

  1. Some rooms are optional. You can skip certain side rooms and still reach the end of the floor. Whether you count these doors or not depends on your definition.

  2. Some runs have more rooms. The number of rooms between fixed events can vary by a few doors each run.

  3. Hidden areas are optional. The Rooms, The Backdoor, and other secret areas aren’t part of the main path — you only see those doors if you find the entrance.

  4. Updates change things. Every major update can add or remove rooms, which changes the total door count.

Total Doors in DOORS (Maximum Possible)

If you count every single door in every floor and every hidden area:

AreaApprox. Doors
The Hotel (Floor 1)100
The Mines (Floor 2)~100
The Archives (Floor 3)~80–100+
The Rooms (hidden)100
The Backdoor (hidden)~10
The Stairwell (hidden)Variable
Total (approximate)~390–410+

That’s a lot of doors. And with The Archives update adding even more, the total keeps growing.

Does the Game Ever Tell You?

Sort of. DOORS doesn’t show a total door count anywhere in the menus, but:

  • Each floor shows your current door number (except The Mines and Archives, which use different systems)
  • The Hotel clearly counts from 1 to 100
  • The Rooms counts from A-001 to A-100
  • Death screens show which door you died on

So you can track your own progress — but the game never says “here’s the total number of doors in DOORS.”

Want to Count Them Yourself?

The best way to answer “how many doors are in DOORS” is to play through and count. Just remember:

  • Some runs will have slightly more doors than others
  • Hidden areas add extra doors you won’t see in a normal run
  • New updates keep adding more
  • The Archives is still being fully explored — the count might go up

Last verified: September 2, 2026. Door counts are approximate and based on the current game version. Exact numbers vary between runs due to procedural generation. The Archives door count is an early estimate — we’ll refine it as more data becomes available from the community.
